Featuring some essential stories, it really gives an insight into the character and his origins. However, for me this is absolutely superb and probably the best value of any of the Rebellion stories, especially if it’s on offer. Sometimes the dialogue here is risible and hasn’t held up well to 40 years of hindsight, especially knowing how good some later stories are. Having read some of the reviews which are adverse, I think they’re not unfair. I first got ‘into’ Judge Dredd in the mid 80s and by that time was able to purchase some Progs from the late 100s - my older brother actually bought as early as Prog 7 but was ‘recycled’ (would be worth a lot now albeit probably not given the condition!) anyway, as a minor digression even in the 80s the earliest Judge Dredd story reprinted in full was ‘The Cursed Earth’ (covered in Vol2) so even in the original Titan forms this collection would have been very tricky to ‘get’ without a significant outlay.
